Walt Disney World Weather Strategies

Moroccan Pavilion in Epcot
Moroccan Pavilion in Epcot

Florida weather is no joke! Orlando. typically sees temperatures as high as 103 degrees Fahrenheit with a humidity that rarely goes below fifty percent and the following day it could be raining. That is why it is vital to have a plan in place when Mother nature reeks havoc in your perfectly planned Disney Day. Having back up plans for your park days, allows not even mother nature to "rain on your parade"!

A simple back up plan is to take a midday break during the hottest part of the day. This is why it is so convenient to stay on Disney property. This allows you to accommodate for the hottest part of the day as well as enjoy the break! Why sweat it out waiting for an attraction that you will be overheated to really enjoy; when you could go for a quick swim, take a nap or just put your feet up back at your resort.

There are multiple options to beat the heat or avoid the rain within the parks themselves. Out of all the parks I think that Magic Kingdom has some the best options. My absolute favorite way to beat the heat is to grab a Dole Whip from Aloha Island and then go into the Enchanted Tiki room. There is rarely a wait and you can bring food into this show. Its a great way to enjoy your Dole Whip, rather than scrabbling to find a place to sit,. Other great options are Country Bear Jamboree, Mickey's Philhar magic, Monster's INC Laugh Floor and the Hall of Presidents. None of these shows typically have a long wait time and are indoors and air conditioned. In Tomorrowland, my favorite option is Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. This is a fantastic option for heat or rain as I have never seen it exceed a 15-minute wait. This is a lovely show showcasing the marvel of the evolution of technology and is about a 20-minute-long show.

A tried-and-true strategy to avoid the midday heat is to have a late lunch reservation. This “forces” you to take a break at this time. You are guaranteed a rest in a much cooler setting. Sometimes just sitting for a bit will really rejuvenate you. This can also be a budget saver too, as lunch prices generally are more cost effective.

Another option is to ride the Monorail or Skyliner. Now this option will only work to beat the heat. Depending on the severity of the weather, these transportation options may not be available. I highly recommend using these transportation systems to either enjoy a cool down while visiting the parks. Or use them as transportation to resort hop. This is an option that guests can use, even if you are not staying at a Walt Disney World resort. A popular trend is stopping at each resort stop on the loop (The Contemporary, The Grand Floridian and The Polynesian) and having an adult beverage or snack or heck both you are on vacation, at each location! Similarly, you can use the Skyliner to explore Disney’s Riviera, Disney’s Caribbean Beach, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

These are just some options that are available for guests. For more helpful tips and tricks be sure to reach out. I look forward to chatting with you!
