“When you go to Hawaii, it’s all about ‘Aloha”. It means hello, goodbye, and I love you” -Gabriel Iglesius

Maui is the Hawaiian Island that is so full of activities, yet a place where can relax and let the world fade away.

The fire that destroyed the town of Lahaina in 2023 was devastating and that area is closed off to visitors. Lahaina is slowly rebuilding, but it will take years. There are some signs of hope: some restaurants are re-opening, and the Iconic Banyan Tree is showing signs of life! However, the rest of Maui is open and welcomes all that come to visit!

There are two main areas to stay.

Ka’anapali is the on the northwest portion of the island. Ka’anapali has a great beach, lots of hotels (moderate to luxury) and an awesome shopping area called Whaler’s Village.

The other area that many visitors stay is Wailea, located further south. Wailea is more upscale with hotels. The beach here is awesome, as is nearby shopping and golf!

So many activities!

If you visit December – February a whale-watching cruise is a must! Departing from the Ma’alea Harbor, you also have the Maui Ocean Center and Aquarium nearby!

A favorite activity is the Road to Hana. This is a day-long activity – some feel it’s best to leave it to a driver/tour so that everyone can enjoy the ride! This is a 64-mile stretch of Maui that is known for its’ 620 curves and 59 bridges – many are one lane! The winding road goes through lush forests and passes waterfalls and hiking paths. One of the first stops is Twin Falls, where you can hike back to the falls – and treat yourself to frozen pineapple. (Further along the route, try the banana bread!)

Another popular stop is Wai’anapanapa State Park – home of the popular black sand/pebble beach. Note: timed reservations are now required to visit this park. You really have to plan your trip to get the most of it!

Returning from Hana? Stop at Mama’s Fish House! It’s an iconic restaurant that is so-so good!

Another exciting activity is to visit Haleakala National Park. Watching the sunrise over the volcano crater at 10,000 feet is beyond incredible! Be aware the tour may pick you up at 2AM, and dress warm! The temperature oftentimes dips down into the 30’s.

Snorkeling is super popular in Maui. Some of the hotels will have accessibility from their beach. Next best is a tour that takes you to Molokini Crater for a half-day snorkel cruise.

Other activities include:

  • Iao Valley State Monument – a short beautiful, short botanical walk. Reservations are required.

  • Luau – many different options

  • Helicopter Ride – highlighting all of Maui

  • Turtle Viewing – Ho’okipa Beach

Both Ka’anapali and Wailea areas are a drive from the airport in Kahului. A rental car is a must! Maui is awesome for families or couples. Anytime of the year is good – but the summer months will be slightly warmer with less rain!

First Solo Trip
Kayla was amazing! I contacted her last February because we'd used this agency several years ago. I was determined to spend the holidays someplace warm. It was my first solo trip, so I was a little anxious, but Kayla was so helpful and encouraging! I had an accident while in Puerto Vallarta, and she was a quick e-mail away, providing information about my Traveler's Insurance. I had to cancel my excursions, which she handled. I'll definitely be contacting her again for future trips, one of which will be a return to Puerto Vallarta! Thank you so much for making this process anxiety-free and so easy!
